title: Absolute Power Corrupts?

In contrast to the saying “absolute power corrupts absolutely”, I think there would be more counter-examples than examples of this phenomenon happening but for history’s inability to grasp all of the past. More often then not there were men and women who stood at the brink of great power and nobly walked away from it. These un-famous people would not be recalled when doing a tally to find principles such as “power corrupts”, but I think they are a great lesson that there isn’t an inevitability that we will always be sought to be dominated over, and that there are many more unknown and unspoken heroes than we could possibly count. The human will towards domination is not endemic, it is merely cultural, especially in western culture which has seen itself rise, but it is failing as we speak, perhaps giving more credence to the idea put forth here. The pronoia more often than not overwhelms and puts forth a flood of decency rather than allowing paranoia to surface and spur one on to despotism, for lust of power and fear of others.

title: White Supremacy Overstated? (meme)

0008 - Pride, Nationalism, or Supremacy.jpg

Note on meme: I understand that this is a controversial meme and runs in the face of so many of the fears (and I myself am a white male, so am I perhaps under-sensitized to the threat? Quite possibly!). However, I do feel the fears are stoked by other fascistic tending groups, that for lack of a better word I will call “political correctness fascists”. Evidence of their power are my reservations in even posting this timely meme. It is true that just one white supremacist armed with a gun is a threat to many many lives, as has been proven, and I abhor the weapon/culture more than the misguided person who was able to access it. But all things considered, their “white supremacy” culture isn’t so grand and so mobile yet to persuade the other 99.9% voters of Trump—only a minority of whom might even have “white pride”—in to the radical stance of white supremacy. They are an economically poor and impotent group unless their foes, and those that would use them as a ruse, keep giving them negative empowerment, negative attention, and galvanize more to join them. This certainly will happen if there is a great antagonistic force to meet the people who come out to support Trump’s inauguration.

title: Dreaming Waking Sequencing

A phenomenon worth noting for its implications on the very foundations of how temporality is understood is the confused causal/consequential ordering of dreams and immediate waking. When I have dreams I remember really well, I am actually in the dream experiencing it fully in a way comparable to my waking conscious usually only when I awake what appears to be soon after the time of my entering that level of consciousness in the dream. To put it differently, the dreams that I only get conscious access to as they unfold (rather than just mere remembering of the dream) are the dreams that will end temporally close to my becoming awake, often because of some external stimuli such as a noise from outside my apartment. It seems that for me to be consciously experiencing in my dream, it must be determined by something happening in the future (backwards influencing causality). There are other explanations such as I was already starting to wake up during the dream, and the fully awake state was already emerging, or criticisms that there isn’t banal causality anyways and there is more of a holism about this and all scenarios than a mere forward or backward causality. But being an intuitive type really trying to get at the honest fabric of the Universe, the former explanation does not feel particularly right, and the criticism, albeit possibly true, is perhaps too vaguely formulated.

title: Immanent Critique Despite No Imminent Critique of Passive Podcast Listening

Podcasts specifically—but all radio shows and extrapolating to large in vivo forums where it is not culturally expected for responses to be made to a speaker—put a person’s critical faculties at bay because of the very structure of the one-way communication. The dynamic is akin in many regards to deterrence theory (and also somehow similar to the dream-wake disordering mentioned in the note above), whereby the lack of an ability to follow through with the critical action puts to rest even the generation of the critical precursors in thought: one does not gather arrows when the bow is broke. People listen very passively, and allow the speaker to wiggle deeply in to their enduring thinking processes. Later on they will be propagating the ideas, saying to a friend “I forgot where I heard, but…”. The scientist in me (that has wiggled in to me) has the hypothesis that a brain scan would show different or less brain activity in a person who has on earbuds listening to a podcast versus a person who has on earbuds and is listening to a phone call where a potential vocal reply is lurking in their call’s future.

Radio and podcast listeners are generally very open to new ideas and thoughts anyways, which is why they are seeking the thoughts and ideas of others to begin with, but I think ultimately they allow themselves to be many more degrees open than they would be comfortable with, without any say in the matter. Education can stray in to miseducation easily enough.

title: Bad Earthen Methylation To Destabilize Climate Cycling

The Earth is constipated by human shit in all sorts of systems that are not used to being clogged with it. The extracted purities, the volatile metals brought to the surface, the energy being floated out of the Earth’s concentrated mass and atmosphere (when bringing this up in conversation I’ve been referred to an article called Earth Battery—link to be provided when I find it), the non-ice-age die offs, and other symptoms the Earth is subjected to, are pulling all the parts out of sync with each other, which is in many regards the death of the whole (by my expression of mereology). I don’t doubt that eventually the Earth can regain some of its former glory and avoid becoming a sister planet to Venus in climate regards—just how much before the sun finishes its 10 billion year life cycle, is an important question to consider.

With ice-age die offs that are mentioned popularly to assuage those who have fears that the current species extinctions has precedence and is “natural”, I think the causes and the timing are quite different (making them unprecedented); also, the former die offs are bounded by an oscillating rhythm, whereas the contemporary die off is under unbounded human control which is unrhythmic and antirhythmic, and hard to adapt to (in evolutionary terms). It is sure to continue to cause new damage until some sort of ethical awakening to what humans actually are—as told to us by the rest of the planet, not by our own artificial ideologies—comes to pass.

After learning about my own methylation problems, thinking of the Earth as having off-kilter methylation is not my merely personifying the Earth (although the Earth should be conceived of as a being rather than a mere sphere), but it is a profoundly real and relevant phenomenon that science would shy away from because of conservative scientific dogmatism and its generally brutal western imperial disposition that has scorn for anything “woo woo”. This of course leaves so this and so many other things scientifically unexplored, keeping it “woo woo” (a catch 22).

Return to the ice age? The die off that comes with a global cooling may be when some of the most creative and important developments to the life attire emerge. There is a healthy cycle of regeneration of these frost-tolerant (or cold thriving) species, that maybe need to reemerge every several thousand years for some unbeknownst diachronic role to the larger biosphere. But these species, at risk of being killed now—along with all other species inhabiting the planet during this Holocene die off—are at population nadirs that may go lower and preclude them from ever re-emerging; or if an ice age were to come with accelerated vigor, their time might not have yet come (perhaps something to do with their genetics), and they might not contribute what is needed to the rest of the living populations that ushered them in to existence and ecosystemic relevancy. They might have provided and be mutually leaned on to provide, among other actions, some sort of digestion in the gut and soil microbiome.

We don’t really know what great swaths of populations we are killing and what small niches of populations we are fostering with our climate destabilization, beyond the shallow studies done by the scientific community. But we can with good reason say that we are and must be killing some species that play crucial roles that we are not yet aware of, because we aren’t (and will never be) aware of them. We may find their fossils, or we may find their fossils next to ours.

title: Our Aversion To Vigilance 2015

Vigilance is constitutive to life, and humans have not needed the faculty (for lack of a better word) of vigilance. It hasn’t been part of their needs, so that’s primarily why things go to shit so frequently/easily, because of a lack of vigilance. Not because of our programs, but because we don’t have the life energy to we used to, to be vigilant and watch and protect things with our bodies (but with paper, the way we throw paper money at things). Laws aren’t our version of vigilance, they are our aversion to vigilance, and they display fully our lack of it as we have to write down codes that are not naturalized within us, and we need to hire enforcers to be the bodies that have it as a job to monitor these laws.

Hating On “The Police”

Hating On “The Police”—not officers suck and such—The Correct Politically Incorrect Way

Police Are Role Models To Other Fascist GangsIf you have strong feelings against the police and want to voice them, but you don’t want to polarize people related to police officers, you can utilize the following tactic:

During your tirade, make sure always to say “the police” and only that, not even any variations such as “police officers”. The reason for this is that police officers are frequently only 1 or 2 degrees disconnected from any social relations we have. They are a colleague’s husband, the father of a friend, the sister of an acquaintance, and so when you start bashing on the police, you can expect them to utter the words “fuck you, my [load the blank] is a police officer!”. If you had said “the police”, you just have to simply reassert that you are referring to the coercive institution, and you don’t have to get caught in a debate where your views are nuanced and watch the wind leave your sails. Remember, if you’ve gotten to the point where you are voicing these ideas, you are too busy fighting something too large to get caught in the many traps of awkwardness that language ensnares us in; be politicking in your own political incorrectness!

It is possible you want to get into the personal acts of horror undertaken by individual police officers: the husband, the father, the sister may very well deserve individualized attention because they especially suck at being human. However, emphasizing the role that the police as an institution had in allowing them to amplify their horribleness is much more important. That they compromised by joining such a narrow-minded institution of control speaks volumes to their individual character; that they can stomach being the biggest tools—being coerced into a mentality of kill or be killed—shows how little to do with humans and our attractions to freedom these people actually have. Further, too much focus on the behavior of individual police officers acts to excuse the larger oppressive institution when the horrible violence does surface. A pattern of bad apples can be blamed on the rotten tree. (apologies to trees everywhere for analogizing you with the police institution!)

Most of the violence undertaken by police is normalized and so it is not dubbed violence. The police exist to channel and dam up the efforts that might threaten the governmental system that employs them, and such damming, such deterrence is in itself violence. It is limiting the human inclination to mobility and wandering as we previously used to. It is violence akin to the road that destroys subtle and complex connections among ecosystems; the asphalt that tramples life underneath itself, while also forever altering (and not for the better) life on all sides of it. Many police officers join the force knowing that in so doing they are being anointed to the status of the public’s official bullies. The exceptions are those dreamers who want to actually help save lives and make the horrible mistake of joining the police in order to do this. One doesn’t have to wear a badge and hide behind weaponry to save lives and do the right thing. More to the point, sometimes doing the wrong thing precludes one from being available to do the right thing.

Government Suffers From A Staff Infection And The Police Are The Most Virulent Strain

To reiterate/elaborate: focus on the police instead of individuals unless you’d like to get into arguments with hecklers you manufactured into your argument. I think anger would get the best of me in such situations, and so when speaking (orally, at least, if not in this post) about police I will make sure to follow my 2015 advice.

Unused Ammo

– Just by putting on the uniform (gun included), putting on the car, being a body in such a skin, dark glasses in lieu of eyes, stirring anxiety in the masses and constantly committing acts to maintain societies negative labels, the police are not for us; they are a fraternity that warps the fabric of our daily life and effectively makes being human seem like a crime waiting to happen.

– Any future mini-articulations I have that speak to the harms the police cause in our world will be logged here.
