My Thoughts Inexactly: Z is for Zeroing (2018 Remix)

It is not enough to only lose your own chains, for if your comrades don’t lose theirs you are sure to keep tripping over them.

The only thing worse than a single leader is a single enemy.

From hand in hand to device in hand. Alienation has become very human.

Maturity is reached when the desire to go back in time ceases. Maturity is not fixed nor one way, as made plain by the aged. We immature as often as we mature. Civilization tends to invert the direction of maturity—one of the great many inversions.

Money is how the past comes to control the present. Inheritance of such control is not a present, but a curse.

If you are only interested in maximizing your existence in this world, then you are fortunate for your interests match the reality.

Those who commit themselves to total war are usually the first casualty.

Doing nothing is death.

You will never be the same, as you never were the same.

Attention is intention.

We rise to the occasion, not because of what we are, but because of the occasion life is.

I’d prefer a forest to an aphorist, but since I am not even grown to the depth of a single tree, I must choose the latter to taste such heights.

Parts are important enough to stop regarding them as mere parts.

If it isn’t visceral enough it isn’t real enough. Too regularly the artificial layers acting as a protective glove will suffocate the naked hands of we the primary creators.

Tribes raise children, parents raise hell raisers. How to climb back up to Earth and its tribes?

An hour long lecture from the ocean has greater value than a two semester seminar at the likes of a Harvard or Cambridge.

You are the flower.

If you won’t be with the whole, you’ll be apart, leaving a hole behind.

It is not the problem of being too introverted or too extroverted—it is the sitting on the wall that we built between the two, stagnant and unmoved by either… diverted.

They ask me why I travel to places where I don’t know anyone, and I respond that it’s no different than here, for they don’t know me.

Writing feels terribly futile, probably because it is!

Civilization doesn’t provide us the luxury of time for rumination, it provides us a plethora of lonely spaces that we can only fill with melancholic rumination.

The Council of Edmond – Meeting Minutes

TIME & LOCATION: The meeting took place on October 25, 2017 in an undisclosed location in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

PRESENT: Edmonds (host & facilitator), Ley, Gulian, Fred, Brian, Giovanni, Earl (note-taker), Gabriel, Geoff, Alex, Gendry (alias), Brendan, and Samantha (“uninvited”)

0) The meeting began with Edmonds reading the following excerpt/handout:

‘You will hear today all that you need in order to understand the purposes of the Enemy. There is naught that you can do, other than to resist, with hope or without it. But you do not stand alone. You will learn that your trouble is but part of the trouble of all the western world. The Ring! What shall we do with the Ring? That is the doom that we must deem.

‘That is the purpose for which you are called hither. Called, I say, though I have not called you to me, strangers from distant lands. You have come and are here met, in this very nick of time, by chance as it may seem. Yet it is not so. Believe rather that it is so ordered that we, who sit here, and none others, must now find counsel for the peril of the world.

‘Now, therefore, things shall be openly spoken that have been hidden from all but a few until this day.’

Part A – Worldly, Historical, and Future Problems

1) Sub-topic 1 – Oligarchy (introduced by Giovanni). The powerful were believed to be a major problem by all, but questions of what power is and where they got it (are hierarchies ontologically real) were discussed. Critical commentary from several members, and a salient question was if oligarchy is responsible primarily for the world’s ills, or if something systemic and infrastructural is more to blame.  The idea summarized that oligarchs themselves are still in the prison: “Property and money are the prison, the oligarchs merely the current prison guards.”

2) Sub-topic 2 – Racism (introduced by Earl). Racism is a major problem, yet after discussion it was believed to be a symptomatic resultant of other oppressions that has only become foundational to the racists’ identities as culturally learned. Also the concept of white privilege was downplayed in favor of a new understanding of “colored disprivilege”. Further, a unique struggle not normally elaborated in acceptable discourse was discussed, namely that many whites (WASPs) have deep community (and previously resource) deficits that explain the roots of their aggressive individual and national policies throughout history. Further discussion was tabled to allow for the next sub-topic which grew from the racism discussion.

3) Sub-topic 3 – Imperialism (introduced by Gabe). Lenin’s work on imperialism was averred to, and the notion of capitalism as a disease that will inevitably keep spreading, if allowed, was generally agreed to. Along these lines, it was posited that imperialism is not just the “macro” taking over of resources on other continents, or planets (an eventuality?), but also should include the control of biological life at the cellular (genetic modification) and even down to the quantum control of sub-atomic particles (accelerators and quantum computing). Imperialism comes from an internal weakness on the part of the oppressor, so despite its widespread devastation, it is still symptomatic in its origins.

4) Sub-topic 4 – Suburban clusterfuck (introduced by Edmonds). Credit was given to James Howard Kunstler as a general introducer of the suburban perils (physical and psychological) as well as the coiner of the term, though none were sure if that was truly the case. Dependence on electrical grids, food and resource supply chains, automation (tabled), depression, sameness versus difference grew out of this discussion. Also, cities as death-traps for a variety of similar reasons of fragility, but also violating and perverting to an extreme degree Dunbar’s number. There were a plenitude of apocalyptic scenarios put forth which one member pointed out was ironic to be coming from such a mundane thing as suburbia.

5) Sub-topic 5 – Civilization(S) (introduced by Gendry). The discussion of urban and suburban woes naturally went to civilization-as-a-whole (initially), where problems of sedentism were expounded upon. But there were some ardent defenses of sedentism, with references to scholarly work that said not all sedentary people in early history and pre-history needed to create ecologically destructive agricultural practices. It was pointed out that it was in fact nomadic people that often became the conquerors, but this idea was then problematized by the fact that most nomadic people were not “imperialistic” like this and that imperialism stemmed from intrinsic weaknesses in relation to a given land, especially were that land already occupied and “distorted” by sedentism. There was agreement that the effects of civilization to create climate change, by way of soil erosion and poor/ignorant land management, including domestication of animals and crops for mono-cropping, were huge factors in causing desertification and atmospheric carbon increases.

6) Sub-topic 6 – Propaganda (introduced by Alex). It was agreed that the powerful have always utilized multiple methods to coerce people, often resorting to misinformation instead of overt violence (for example through exaggeration or outright lying). Western representative democracy was forwarded as a prime, ongoing example of propaganda: representative democracy is when oligarchs take up acting. Propaganda was found to be a deep cultural force that goes beyond just social class, governmental, and economic oppression, but it can be found in parallel in all sorts of everyday relationships where manipulation is consciously or unconsciously utilized. The question to see if it’s pre-civilized went in to a discussion of other animals such as birds, namely peacocks, to know if the bright feathers males flaunted were representative of their virility or a sapping of their energy for the sake of a veneer; the oily sheen on a dog’s coat or even on a leafy plant were mentioned, too. Contemporary propaganda was agreed to be holistically inefficient, mentally enervating, and a parasitical draw on available resources that could be used elsewhere, except when it was itself highly artistic and its own end regardless of the distorted representation for another end.

7) Sub-topic 7 – Identity-Politics (introduced by Gabe). There was no consensus on whether or not identity politics was itself a problem or representative of many problems existing and a means to counter them. A conciliatory approach offered by one of the members on how to approach identity politics was that it depended on what the unifying identity was, and if it was a pre-existing alienated group defined by the oppressor, or an identity created by a loose group of marginalized (and not-so-marginalized) people to vent, gain attention, and/or seize power. The reconcilement centered on the idea that even if the problems for which the identity-based group was created were not solved, and even if new problems were created by the social group rising from their challenges, there often resulted positive internal community growth that filled the vacuum, and the issue(s) themselves could be viewed at the least as a vehicle to unite people in to community which they were all lacking. The discussion then became more genealogical in how identity politics ever arose, and then was tabled.

7a) 15 minute break followed by a 5 minute quiet reflection on the topics covered so far, and then a singular generation of a list of problems not yet covered so far.

8) Sub-topic 8 – Legality (introduced by Brendan). Brendan started off saying that law trials are not about justice, they are a sport between highly paid professionals who compete at the onlookers expense. This served as a beginning to the discussion which went quite deeper in to evaluations of what legality really is. It was put forth that more often than not that even were laws able to not contradict and negate other laws (for which biased and unbalanced lawyers and judges were paid to sort out), that the human channeling of energy in to legal systems over the millennia, regardless of the cohesion and coherence of the justice system, has been synonymous with greater and greater purging from the individual person an innate sense of vigilance and justice. Laws are the blindspot of justice, and now with an entire legal class, the laws have divorced everyday sense of ethics, which is in effect how the human disease can unleash itself on the Earth without any self-checks or thoughts to do so. Environmental stewardship was such an example of innate human consciousness that it needed to linguistic codification, and yet it has now taken centuries of destruction of the environment on the part of humans to finally render it in to law, and it is still ineffectual because it is contradicted by the rights of governments and individuals (corporations namely) to rape the land. Justice is a terribly long walk of the pen, with countless victims written over along the way; or is it?

9) Sub-topic 9 – Industrialization/Technology/Globalization (introduced by Brian). Though the topic of industrialization seems to have been overlapped with already in the sub-topics of imperialism and civilization, the discussion was qualified for additional insights that Brian, and then others following him, surfaced. Firstly, because many non-primitivist socialist-utopian affinities were present in group members, it was important that a discussion around the role of technology be had, presuming that the technology was in the hands of, for example, a gift-economy or worker-run city whereby it wasn’t used for individual profit, but for social progress. Industrialism for human use at the hands of worker-councils should be a good thing, if it could be done ecologically. However this very question became a central problem, and the open question remained on whether or not all technology or just certain technology is bad for the planet. The deep attachments to technology were admitted to on the part of all, however whether or not this was a bad thing or merely part of evolution was discussed. Some reductio ad absurdum examples entered the discussion but will not be listed in these notes. Suburbia was brought up again in this discussion but with attention to the many roads that industrialism required to connect the parts for the conquering of evermore of the land to convert it in to industrial use (if this was the type of industrialism that even a humane socialist economy would seek for). It remained an open question if industry could ever reach a utopian point where it was not destructive to any living things as was aspired to (presumably) in the Soviet Union.

10) Sub-topic 10 – Money (introduced by Fred). A discussion of mediation in general that first focused on money, but expanded to particularly the quantification and reification of consumer goods and services so that they might be translated in to monetary quantities, and the chafing down of all things to fit in to the cash nexus or other human categories of thought, and physicalitys that conformed with artifices. The social losses incurred when money was given legitimacy were discussed, and how other/older forms of kinship and resource sharing were weeded out; a huge quantity of money middle-men that emerged to bureaucratically manipulate it giving way eventually to huge “money making” institutions; money is the clothes that imperialists are dressed in. Also, intrinsic problems of money will always exist, it was argued even were there benevolent money-managers (such as automated robots, tabled for later).

11) Sub-topic 11 – Science (introduced by Geoff). The science sub-topic discussion continued right where industrialism and money left off, but quickly mixed in philosophical ideas revolving around what reification really is and if it’s the method of science to do so (dissecting and then analyzing). What is science really and if is used as a term so broadly is it really multiple things conflated together? Is it just mere empirical observation? How does science choose its objects and what mereological assumptions does it make? Representationalism (and misrepresentation) are cultural and shifting far more than they are objective, and yet this is the way of science that constantly disproves itself, meaning it is a long history of being wrong, outside of the aspect of science that is the humble recording of observations and drawing minute conclusions. Thomas Kuhn was indicated though his name couldn’t be remembered at the time. Specific examples of science’s direct impact were brought up. Science enabled nuclear power (or was it the human imagination, and science shouldn’t be given deistic agency?), and now in peace time there are black-holes created routinely with great hubris, and great danger. Will modified organisms really be helpful in evolving the planet forward, or are they a murder of life with life’s own corpse? Discussion went further, into the imperialism of knowledge, the unceasing human quest to know things, that has been conflated with evolution of the species; it has led to a great weakening of the human because of the time investment into obsessing about knowledge piles to the loss of in-body time that humans need. The poor posture overweight cubiclite was referenced.

12) Sub-topic 12 – Science/Fiction (introduced as “Artificial Intelligence” by Giovanni). Edmonds chose to title it Science/Fiction for writing purposes and to include a broader discussion beyond artificial intelligence. Immediately too the question was injected of if artificial intelligence can even attain artificial consciousness, for machines are not self-healing and evolving organically and are uncontained by programming, yet computers seem to have this fundamental restraint. If artificial intelligence is created (presumably organically and not electronically), or even if machines advanced enough to be almost autonomous and controlled by the oligarchy entirely, they would be deadly to all humans that didn’t serve some purpose. Ley had lots of background in science fiction and had written an unpublished essay titled “Fictional Today, Experimental Tomorrow: The Real Dangers Of Science Fiction” where he argued that the human imagination was very important to defend us against most crises, which are preventable if we take their precursors in our imagination (this in parallel to using intuition to sense the future). However, Ley said imaginations can conjure futures that are radically different yet could then be realized by a determined people that imprison the present for their own twisting purposes. Science fiction does just this, as it provides enough of a blueprint (it seizes the imagination) that we then force (engineer) the present in to. Engineers are not neutral actors in all of this but actively decide which of a myriad of directions reality will go in. Comedian Bill Burr’s routine on Steve Jobs was mentioned as exemplary of this arbitrarity.

Further, and perhaps most dangerously, science fiction goes to normalize dystopian situations and neutralize our critical ethics faculties to something that would otherwise be quite shocking. The “saw this in a movie” effect is widespread and has allowed great leaps in perversion and destruction on the part of governments and corporations. The abnormal is so quickly made normal and digestible through movies (again, propaganda)

13) Sub-topic 13 – Health (introduced by Gulian). Gulian confessed he had been thinking about this topic all along because of the variety of food options we all were partaking in, some very healthy and some very poor food choices “winter storage foods built for sieges”. Lack of sunlight exposure and the work of Stephanie Seneff were asked to be included in these notes, too, which he mentioned briefly but self-tabled. He took a show of hands to point out who of us were fading during this second half of the meeting, and who was still going strong. He did this from a standing position, standing being something only he and Edmonds did during the meeting that he pointed out. He went on to say how adversely affected modern human health is by all the previous sub-topics we had previously listed, and a vicious feedback loop ties them all together. And it was agreed that if our own health was not managed in preventative ways not dependent on the parasitical medical-industrial complex, we could not hope to fight these other issues. But questions of how to do this, and what makes a person feel healthy and whole beyond merely eating healthy and exercising bodily and spiritually were discussed. Samantha, a dweller in the location of the meeting who is a practicing nutritionist, happened to overhear the discussion and offered some practical tips for all of us including intermittent fasting, using a salt-water infused water drink called “sole”, and sleeping at the same time every night. The need to express our creative energy was brought up as a health initiative, particularly sexual contact and release, and also very important skin contact such as cuddling.

14) Sub-topic 14 – Sexism (introduced by Samantha) – This meeting, as Samantha pointed out and others admitted noticing earlier, didn’t formerly include one women, or one openly LGBTQQ person (as far as she knew). How could the world’s problems hope to be alleviated and turned without the voices of the other? There was discussion of how to go about including others who they didn’t happen to be acquainted with, and how to not make it merely in to a tokenizing inclusion, as would be the case with several of the member’s wives. Also the assumption that all those who identify somewhere in the LGBTQQ spectrum, or too as straight women, feel oppressed, and would have any interest in taking on the task of evaluating the world’s problems and then saving the world. Rights to be nude entered the discussion, and one member, followed by two others, stripped for effect and to re-normalize the surroundings.

15) Sub-topic 15 – The Over-looked “ism” (introduced by Edmonds). Edmonds confided that this he was hoping to end with, in what he saw as an overarching problem not yet clearly defined or considered. There were a few headings under which the idea might be introduced, and he chose it under it’s negative terming as an ism, namely ageism. He felt that the fight against ageism opened itself to a proactive fight rather than a reactive and defensive fight, as has been and would be the case when fighting most of the other causes of global death and oppression (because they were fighting to defend something that enabled a different version of rot to dwindle within. Fighting for the youth to continue is what life inevitably had always done, and not through destruction but creation and cultivation. It was a fight far beyond mere cultural contrivance, but in line and with momentum coming deep from instincts and the whole trajectory of life on Earth. The Earth had chosen billions of years ago to have reproduction as the part of how life continues, and humans had now severely interrupted this. Ageism against the youth was discussed and agreed to as a major issue to cap off the problem listing phase. Another member pointed out that the humanizing of the event as an ism against humans might fail to include what was really the fight for life on the planet, whether animal, plant, fungi, or other. The sixth mass extinction if allowed to continue would eventually preclude fights against any other of the problems, and yet solve many of the human-made ills on the Earth, but for few species left to benefit from.

Part B – World Saving, History Redeeming, and Future Freeing

It was agreed upon that this portion of the meeting would be extremely brief and focus upon devising solutions for one of the single problems listed. To the surprise of all, one member put forth a motion, and then another seconded it. Including this process was quite spontaneous, and to Edmonds’s delight it was in favor of the problem just elucidated. “For the children!” said Alex with a fist raised, and then all raised their fists and said it again. Alex then shared powerfully that we ought to not focus on the Enemy, referring to the LOTR reading where “the Enemy” was underlined, but on the friends. Giovanni then ventured that restoration permaculture is the best way to be “pro-life” wherever anyone of any status and means happened to find themselves. He shared a specific idea he had been contemplating on how to make the “Water Is Life” movement more proactive using permaculture. Essentially his idea was that instead of just defending by use of laws and pleading, westerners or indigenous peoples should actively make new sources of water and “green the desert” through swales and pond creations to inspire people to create once again what had been lost. All the members agreed to go and research permaculture, and Fred, also a permaculturalist, shared that he would work to revive the “Permaculture Campaign” that he had launched earlier that year and had let fall to the wayside. The meeting was closed with the idea that they would meet again in the future after having chewed on and researched what was discussed (and reviewing this document), coming up with any proactive campaigns that might be suitable. A last comment and commitment was by Gendry who had shared that he was already looking at intentional communities to visit on IC.org, and that another best thing to do for the future generations was to provide them with the option to be part of a tribe. Several others thought it was a good idea and told him to forward information to their emails and that an intentional community exploration sub-committee should exist alongside the permaculture researching.

So concludes the minutes on the Council of Edmond, October 25, 2017, 100 years after the Russian Revolution, and 1001 years before the Council of Elrond, in the Third Age of this world.

notes 4 today: 2017-01-24 (Crossing The Sun; Life As A Struggle?; Vibrational Differences Between Whole Humans And Machine Parts; Esoteria, Stupidity, And Ignorance)

title: Crossing The Sun

There is a large minority of people (40% plus or minus) of the Earth’s 7 billion who have “turned their backs on the sun”, and now live in an area where the sun is always to their south (or north), without ever a crossing happening. They are outside the tropics and rarely venture in to the tropics long enough or deep enough to have a day go by where the sun’s zenith is to their south, and the next hour/day have the sun’s zenith to their north. This exclusion to sun crossing opportunities includes entirely the “continent” of Europe where a vast amount of the preventable deaths by war and civilized advances have taken place or were engineered from, along with japan, the united states, china, and some other nefarious characters. Perhaps a correlation, but nothing more than that.

While you chew on that, another thing I have been chewing on and am happy to allow you to masticate on as well, is that the Christian religion is symbolically based upon the son being on a cross, left to die. I am not well versed in Christian lore, but I do not think Jesus went in to the tropics during his life. Historically, crucifixion was leaving someone out in the elements, usually the hot sun to dehydrate and die over a few days. It is certainly a very unique time to become intimate with celestial bodies, most particuarly the power of the sun. Perhaps the role of the sun/sol is more central to this son/soul involved religious storyline. This is all very loose right now, it can be tied tighter for sure.

As for sun crossing, for a religious or for an energetic/physical purpose, my feeling is that it can be a “pilgrimage” that brings illumination and a re-balancing for those who focus on the wisdom that is the solar system as it is and gives the energy that allows life on our planet to flourish. This might be one of the medications we all need as we generally stay stuck inside, eyes exposed dominantly to artificial light instead of full spectrum sunlight.

title: Life As A Struggle?

The idea of all of life as a great struggle—a theme that crops up very often in western currently dominating discourse—is an extrapolation/projection by humans who had found (and now find) themselves in a particularly harsh non-tropical land where great struggle was needed for survival (think Europe, a theme with me!). In the “natural world” it’s true that many specimens die and one could say that’s proof of struggle, but their deaths are not struggles for very long—they die and are quickly materially/energetically reabsorbed. The successful specimens of a species are almost always adopted right in to an ecosystem and have a comfortable enough niche that has them act as where their propensities are naturally inclined towards anyways. There is no great struggle hour in, and hour out, day in and day out—this is not what life fundamentally is! Dying is filled with struggle, but not living, which is what life is more deeply and temporally aligned with. Proof of our disease as humans is that we have made our lives and much of the world’s ecosystems in to our own image; we’ve undercut ourselves and them through acting on misinformed (deformed) concepts, and we’ve made life a struggle.

title: Vibrational Differences Between Whole Humans And Machine Parts

This is one argument in an ongoing series that my brain ruminates on at times regarding the preposterous claims made by “Singularity” believers. 

Vibrations in humans (and other animals and living creatures) can change immediately, and are not bound within a particular finitude (we are not infinite but not bound by any specific finite state). Machines on the other hand have a specific internal finitude available to them: what we would say is the machine. However, as with computers and many other complicated devices we’ve fashioned, what we call a single entity is really several parts that work as a team; it is never a whole the way a human is a complete whole, specifically because the machine constituents are not vibrating at the same frequencies and work together through mediation—as with a basic set of gears interacting and turning because of the belt/chain (not a shared energy aspiration). We living things become a unique whole (not a series of parts) kept whole because the plurality of matter that makes us up all vibrates at the same frequency, and when there is non-synchronicity, the body can always resynchronize immediately without a central and mediating organizing force beyond the immediacy of vibrational syncing. Living bodies do get out of sync at times to be sure, and sometimes to a great degree, and this is what it is to be diseased. But they are self-corrective and are not dependent on some outside engineer to come set things aright again. Our healing by concerted effort that does not require an engineer is unique to life, and something that our machines will never have, because they are just a combination of parts.

Part of the reason machines do not have this is that they are chemically made out of elements that do not interact well with regards to what is needed to evolve a living consciousness; this might be metals, or even include wood and stones, which might be of organic materials but are not put in to organic frequency rich relationships (wood or sinews are dead and divorced particulates of something that was a whole that included but was not alive solely because of these parts). These mechanical systems cannot change themselves immediately—they are not subject to immediate evolution—they need mediated change (adaptions that are geared by someone else); they would need to dig in somehow to rework themselves if they are programmed to do this self-corrective work. They weren’t “produced” per se, they were just thrown together, and so they will never “reproduce” because that has always been absent from their trajectory. There is no momentum, and they only exist as whole entities because the human mind personifies them so. There is nothing intrinsically whole about my cell phone or my lap top. The whole is a projection that comes from we the people and is codified in our reifying language.

title: Esoteria, Stupidity, and Ignorance

The esoteric need not be a high level thing, it can be the esoteria of stupidity. That people come to be in their own little private enclaves is not necessarily an indication of sophistication. More and more it is likely that we will stumble in to esoteria due to our increasing stupidity as humans atrophy further. Our divorce from larger ecosystems is already itself proving to be a tragic mistake that makes us esoteric from the rest of nature and ultimately might extinct us. Academic disciplinary idiots spoil great energy reserves to develop alienating categories that make themselves esoteric, but in the vacuum of available energy that is coming for humans (as we regress through the mean from which we have strayed in opulence) will get us to the same unbalanced place, this time only reaching esoteria because of malnourishment that was the natural longterm outcome of a technologically rich environment in the first place.

Do not be ignorant of the ignorance of others. The perils of education allow provincial people to be viewed as less than. However, in very many ways having an ignorance that comes along with provincialism, is itself a balance of locality, a natural/sustainable state where knowledge of is balanced with power to. Knowing a great many things beyond one’s local influences is at a great cost to the whole. Ignorant of the cost of knowledge are the knowledgeable who decry the lack of education of others. title: Showering Of Ideas

Some meta-cognition: It occurred to me during a shower that during a shower I have a relatively high amount of ideas come my way. I think I used to believe this was because my mind was free of other tasks and so it could wander to more distant or abstract things to chew on. But then it occurred to me in a contrasting light, that there are other times I don’t have a fecundity of ideas, such as standing on a grocery line (or the ideas come more seldom here, even though the time span is similar). My hyperthesis is that warmth, specifically carried through water, heightens our bodies overall, or relaxes the troubles in the body that the brain would’ve been attending to, and now can entertain more freely the ideas that roam in.

title: Dogs And Society Correlation

Simply put, western societies tend to have dependent pets more frequently, and yet have a smaller and weaker family structure. So pets are certainly there to fill in the vacuum, but is it also causative or co-evolving, co-factoring, displacing? How many other animals in the mammal family hang out with other mammals sans human interference? By having dogs, we have become quite singularly concerned. If you consider yourself miserable (a likely thing this day and age if some open/critical thought is put in to it), I think we need to look at different primates for inspiration on how to live with each other rather than our own culture and the lessons of domesticated dogs whose instincts have been retarded.

And so the short term reality of “Having a dog helps me meet people” stands in irony to the probable long term effect where our families and societies as a whole, weaken.

We destroy pets’ relations to nature and they destroy ours. They are a cock block for they create a barely tolerable but still paper over a gap of connection needed to animals other than our individual selves. Keep your dog, but fill in the gaping hole underneath the bandaid with your fellow humans. We have the right skin and hormones to truly have loving interactions.

title: Revolution And Paranoia

A revolution must be paranoid if it is to survive. Just consider the context in which it must be emerging that it is so dearly needed. A true rƎVO⅃ution, is capitalized wisely and reveals certain progressions to be regressions. If a revolution is too paranoid, it will eat itself; if a revolution isn’t paranoid enough, it will be eaten by others, usually the forces which it opposes.

It is still sadder Che that we are all born now with deadly enemies, but we just tend to confuse them as friends (corporations, governments, banks, salespersons, etc…). But it is a happy thing that we are born with friends we often confuse as dead (plants, fungi, life forces unarticulated)! Pronoia is on our side!

title: Winter Solstice Energy

“Can’t sleep can’t think can’t stop getting shivers. This solstice shit is powerful; this love is even moreso.”

— A facebook status that I altered withholding from posting (to not reveal a telling hint to the one by whom I am smitten)

This particular hibernal solstice is not like the particular estival solstice 6 months before, not just because one is hibernal and one estival, but because the one before had a full moon in the same day and this one is having a full moon a week before. Yet, for whatever reason, and for only the second solstice in my life, I am on a multi-day extremely low sleep pattern. What’s interesting though is that during this hibernal solstice, if I am remembering correctly, the sun is the closest to the Earth when when it is lowest in the sky for the Northern hemisphere. I wonder if this is a balance or a point of greatest contradiction for the lifeforms enduring these energy shifts. Today, the day before the solstice, I had a heightened spiritual conversation as I drove on wide open New York Thruway and then a Westering Interstate (84?) to get raw milk. Among the discussions that felt like a communing with the trees, mountains and especially the sun, was a whole lot of powerful aphorisms. There was one focused on mushrooms that I will share here:

“One doesn’t need to eat mushrooms, to be fed mushrooms”

I’ve never partaken in psychadelics for shamanic connections, but I certainly felt the aliveness today. It is the second solstice in a row where this has happened. Moments like these are unspeakably reaffirming; I cried in commiseration with the friendly reassuring forces, injustices happening, and of vows to fight for life. Yet there will now be a dread in me that I will not only be losing sleepiness, but losing sleep to (playing on one of my favorite aphorisms).

This note, and everything below, will be on 12 hours of sleep over the last 6 days…

One might be born into a religion, or later choose to join a religion. But it is the Earthly energies that choose to breathe a new life at conception.


title: Hyper-theses Valid Until Proven Otherwise
The scientific process is all together backwards in its approach to the fecundity of the Universe. Scientists and aficionados like this about science—its ability to weed out all but the logically assimilated factors in the Universe that are repeatable rather than unique and spontaneous—but any therapist that has an interdisciplinary acumen could see how grossly invalidating science is to not just a great many theories—”hypotheses”—but also the very real people behind them that took mental energies aside to generate them.

In the spirit of pronoia, and the notion that what exists is its own justification, I wanted to formalize the direct inversion (one of inclusion) to the scientific method of exclusion. Essentially it’s that something is valid until it is proven invalid by some method. Why do thoughts occur to people (and dreams, and dream worlds), where do they come from? The experience of them is very real, which means to me they are as real as other things that are experienced, whether or not they are “eternally” real or “ephemerally” real. The nomadic “ephemeral” real might be the most dynamic and will always be overlooked by science, for it is a law breaker and science stays strictly to the confines of legality.

The emotions, the beauty, the touching—its all very real and all generally foreign to science. Again, ideas generated in your imagination or intuition gotten from your body should be thought of as real and true until they are disproven.

Perhaps in many decades science will turn it’s eye to “know” what has already been long before known, without need of costly and alienating experiments.

Lastly, I wanted to point out a correlation (a causation?) between the development of science and the development of problems in the world, specifically the loss of biomass and biodiversity. When all the narratives of progress are discarded for the propaganda they are, we can see with the much better criterion of life existing and to what extent, that there has been indeed great loss rather than progress. Should we blame science per se? Certainly not as the cause, but perhaps a co-factor. Science knowledge accumulation informs chemists when they develop anti-biological compounds.

re is a scientific correlation between the development of science and the development of problems in the world. The scientific method is anti-thetical to the thesis that something is valid until it is proven unvalid, as, not the opposite direction which is that of science.


title: Dear oh Deer, Cities And Bureaucracies Will Kill Us All

First off, let the deer’s death be in venison, not in vain. Don’t know how they are planning on dealing with the deer’s body, and all the less celebritized deers that die in less infamous circumstances. Industrial chickens practically die from the stress (sometimes hours away from death when they are slaughtered) and are filled with some unfavorable hormones, so that at least is not a reason to avoid eating this deer.

So this may seem like a sad and cute story, but I think it is quite revealing. Humans are temporally quite far from deer evolutionarily (by our own standards, at least), but being of the mammalian family and having most of our needs be similar does suggest that there are comparisons to be drawn. Our systems for decision making (i.e. bureaucracies) are not adequate to biological life, which includes ourselves lest we forget. Though we do not seldom die from bureaucracies, we all indeed do atrophy a bit, weathered down; one additional stressor in the cumulative paralysis of stressors.


title: Ostracization Of Ostracization

Ostracization used to essentially be a death sentence to a person, but this is no longer the case, and on the surface that sounds good because that means no one will have to suffer that fate. However, to draw it level with our time in two dimensions—

1) We have the specter of imprisonment, capital punishment, and other variations that can amount to a death sentence, literally or in labor ostracization (prison record).

2) Ostracization wasn’t something that had to be used all the time (it could act as a deterrent most of the time), and perhaps it can be guessed at that in more recent ancient history banishment for a set time used to happen (1 year?), maybe depending on the offense a person wouldn’t be permenantly ostracized. So it was effectively their judicial system, and certainly I’m guessing most of the tribes that used this had good and valid reasons—for they are giving up one of their own that has already been a love and food investment when they were younger at least, and now won’t be in the society in that capacity. So that really elevates what the severity had to be to get them kicked out. Or perhaps they were a freeloader type that somehow evolved in to that context.

Now what happens in modern western liberal “democracies” is that people who are ostracized because of something the group finds off-putting are then afforded a huge range of other groups that are composed of other ostracized groups to just form a new critical mass for a second community. Before actual ostracization happens, or in tandem with hints of its existence, there is sometimes “self-ostracization” where people might be inclined to leave a social group and join another, sensing they didn’t fit in but new they would elsewhere.

So the problem with this is that the corrective abilities that are evolved with balance in primates are disbanded without anything else to replace them. The long term consequences of this are huge and I think we are seeing it now if we look with any degree of realism at our fellow humans. So yes, specific individuals are empowered in the near term by this process, but it is costly environmentally and disempowers everybody, including the humans as resources (emotional capacities, bodily functionality, as well as soil and other ground resources). OoO wreaks of being deeply reinforcing as by feedback loops with globalization, both eroding localism in their own unique ways.

There has been a denudering of the ability to punish bad behavior, and so these behaviors proliferate in this vacuum.

title: The Protestant Control Ethic, and Relativism*

The implications of Max Weber’s connection between the Protestant Work Ethic— and how it evolved to buttress capitalist efficiency and productive obsessions—has some grand implications also for non-protestant inhabitants that have nevertheless been exposed to the protestant types (whether through already living in their community, or being victims of a culturally protestant empire). The effects (victimage) goes beyond being a mere colonial subject or the product of a neo-civilizing project (i.e. through missionaries), but to the way these encountered others were regarded by the deep-seeded protestant motives of their imposers. The logic is as follows:

Were the hard working Protestant types truly influenced by an obsession to get in to heaven and prove to themselves that they were the chosen ones—reflected in their secular successes, i.e. how capitalist they were—also would be their motives to discourage and obsesses over what others were doing, for they would be potential heaven-bound competition. This current in counter-tension with the forces within their Protestant culture that wanted to destroy non-Christian culture of “the savages” and carry out the Christian call to bring them in to the fold, but nevertheless I think that this was/is an actual undercurrent that seems evident in the obsessions of governing/policing the behavior of others. It might also go a long way to explain, in part, why Western programs since Lutheran ideas have failed so miserably to establish successfully dominated subjects despite huge advantages to hegemony. This conflicting agenda might be endemic to relations with imperial subjects. It has morphed several times over during many generations, but can roughly be stated now as the fear that others are doing something that oneself is missing out on; so rather than miss out on something special, one then just takes away the ability from others to have that something special to happen (through policing), or you make sure the events are captured and mediated on the news, in pornography, in advertisements, and somehow one’s own tentacles are entwined in the sinews of others.

To summarize: what was once a religious based deep fear and deep obsession that others might be the alternates who get in to heaven, is now a deeper fear and obsession that others might be having joy that does not include oneself or is not permitted first by oneself, and the goal is to actively erode the ability of others to do this. I think such deep, consciousness-buried, motives are wielded by among others, the Neo-Cons, and why within their psyche they truly must feel uneasy most of the time UNTIL they can see their projects of “full spectrum dominance” realized.

*I intuit that it is co-emergent with the rest of this argument herein, that an amoral relativism also conquers the minds of westerners under the capitalist yoke. Everything becomes valued in terms of its relative value—it becomes a mean towards the ultimate and only end which was originally one’s own acceptance in to heaven (with limited seating) but is now one with the most wealth and status, as designated in socio-economic terms.


title: Mexicans For Resident, 2017+ (Uniting With Mexicans)

For fear of being named ignorant and quixotic, I stall putting my name to such gross simplifications and stereotypes as may be contained herein, but for love of my dreams of a better world and in union with my fellow humans, I stall no longer. I am going to briefly speak (outline) my vague hopes in a people (Mexicans, especially those now in the USA) that I think naturally wield most of the answers the western humans need help with, whether or not either group knows it.

¡Español es la lengua de la revolución! The much more indigenous central Americans who yet speak Spanish due to early European colonialism—ranging from southern Mexico to Honduras and Guatemala—are now in significant numbers in the United States, and what a loss to us all if they are forcibly removed or feel compelled to leave these lands behind. I think Subcomandante Galeano (formerly Subcomandante Marcos) had an immediate intuitive sense of the decency and potency of these darker-skinned people a long time ago, which was in part what drew him to them. Whether or not this was true for him, it is certainly true for me, and I feel drawn to them for what I empirically observe. They are the embodied realization of so many of my idealizations.

They blow the leaves of others for economic surviving, but they leave their own leaves to sow eco-systemic thriving. First generation Mexicans, Hondorans, Guatemalans, and others I’ve encountered from Central and South America, still have cultural wisdom and often first-hand experience with agriculture, something northern Americans have all but forgotten. Their poorer places of origin are less dependendent on machinery for food production, a real benefit to their non-esoteric yet precious wisdom. They have voluntary simplicity built in to so many aspects of their lives, and are chastised often for living in such close quarters which is really something to be applauded by any who speak of reducing carbon. The culture of the Mexicans that have migrated to the United States is largely invisible (subaltern), even to the radical eyes who have utopian hopes and carry them out with intentional communities. May this not remain the case…

The Mexicans usually do not fancy to dress themselves in revolutionary ideology or ideas, which perhaps speaks to how truly revolutionary they are, in their naked unadorned selves. They ride bikes while we drive cars, they huddle together while we drift further apart, they relax and listen to music while we push relentlessly forward for profit or to pay debts we’ve allowed ourselves to incur. Perhaps not as radical as some un-contacted peoples, but fortunately for us we are in contact with them and they can do a lot for us just by following their examples, to help us realize our radical dreams. Learning Spanish can go a long way in going a long way with them. However, this is a time limited opportunity. The second generation Mexicans are imperiled by the American consumer culture whilst our generation and younger are actively being sterilized to the fertile opportunities that migrate in as pollen on the wind.

May we consciously open ourselves up to their beautiful ways and habits for a needed cross pollination, and so too their language so that we may learn so many balancing remedies that western culture is so obviously lacking. Again as reminder, I sense this is for a limited time only. ¡Adelante!


title: Gaming The Olympics

Merely an observation that there is a quasi-predominance of water games in the Olympics and it has come to favor those places and countries with a history of water interaction. Oceania, and previous coastal people’s prestige have set the tone with the engineering and adoptions of these games in to the canon of athletics, to the dis-benefit of largely arid and land locked nations (Mongolia?) as well as poorer ones (the two are not always in correlation), though not surprisingly sports are a reflection of political and sociological realities.

Yet, we do spend very little time as a species in the water regardless of our location relative to bodies of water, but still there are a whole slew of water events that require grand and esoteric infrastructural investment to propagate.


title: Poor Ritualization And Superstition

As a probable factor of how superstition grew in to cultural normativity, a hypothesis I am chewing on is that there were one or a series of poor teachers of some older, non-superstition imbued practice. For example, the original creators and practitioners of a Shamanic-vibration practice to acutely alter consciousness would as they aged probably teach a new generation, if the practice were found to be particularly useful by the culture. As generations wear on, there is a likelihood that a poor teacher and/or a quack practitioner who didn’t have the essentials of the ritual down, would continue the practice anyways and after some generations of this, and the uncritical cultural reverence for the practice, albeit now a morphed one, would render the practice impotent and empty, bereft of its original real energy. Rather than ridding themselves of the voided practice, cultures that are built on strict adherence to tradition fill in the gaps of the lacking-practice with a faith (belief) in the power of the practice without any real tangible evidence. Superstitions are part and parcel of this process, and they emerge to protect and keep people from straying from the practice or belief in its power; bad things may happen to those who commit sacrilege.

title: Absolute Power Corrupts?

In contrast to the saying “absolute power corrupts absolutely”, I think there would be more counter-examples than examples of this phenomenon happening but for history’s inability to grasp all of the past. More often then not there were men and women who stood at the brink of great power and nobly walked away from it. These un-famous people would not be recalled when doing a tally to find principles such as “power corrupts”, but I think they are a great lesson that there isn’t an inevitability that we will always be sought to be dominated over, and that there are many more unknown and unspoken heroes than we could possibly count. The human will towards domination is not endemic, it is merely cultural, especially in western culture which has seen itself rise, but it is failing as we speak, perhaps giving more credence to the idea put forth here. The pronoia more often than not overwhelms and puts forth a flood of decency rather than allowing paranoia to surface and spur one on to despotism, for lust of power and fear of others.

Note on meme: I understand that this is a controversial meme and runs in the face of so many of the fears (and I myself am a white male, so am I perhaps under-sensitized to the threat? Quite possibly!). However, I do feel the fears are stoked by other fascistic tending groups, that for lack of a better word I will call “political correctness fascists”. Evidence of their power are my reservations in even posting this timely meme. It is true that just one white supremacist armed with a gun is a threat to many many lives, as has been proven, and I abhor the weapon/culture more than the misguided person who was able to access it. But all things considered, their “white supremacy” culture isn’t so grand and so mobile yet to persuade the other 99.9% voters of Trump—only a minority of whom might even have “white pride”—in to the radical stance of white supremacy. They are an economically poor and impotent group unless their foes, and those that would use them as a ruse, keep giving them negative empowerment, negative attention, and galvanize more to join them. This certainly will happen if there is a great antagonistic force to meet the people who come out to support Trump’s inauguration.


title: Dreaming Waking Sequencing

A phenomenon worth noting for its implications on the very foundations of how temporality is understood is the confused causal/consequential ordering of dreams and immediate waking. When I have dreams I remember really well, I am actually in the dream experiencing it fully in a way comparable to my waking conscious usually only when I awake what appears to be soon after the time of my entering that level of consciousness in the dream. To put it differently, the dreams that I only get conscious access to as they unfold (rather than just mere remembering of the dream) are the dreams that will end temporally close to my becoming awake, often because of some external stimuli such as a noise from outside my apartment. It seems that for me to be consciously experiencing in my dream, it must be determined by something happening in the future (backwards influencing causality). There are other explanations such as I was already starting to wake up during the dream, and the fully awake state was already emerging, or criticisms that there isn’t banal causality anyways and there is more of a holism about this and all scenarios than a mere forward or backward causality. But being an intuitive type really trying to get at the honest fabric of the Universe, the former explanation does not feel particularly right, and the criticism, albeit possibly true, is perhaps too vaguely formulated.


title: Immanent Critique Despite No Imminent Critique of Passive Podcast Listening

Podcasts specifically—but all radio shows and extrapolating to large in vivo forums where it is not culturally expected for responses to be made to a speaker—put a person’s critical faculties at bay because of the very structure of the one-way communication. The dynamic is akin in many regards to deterrence theory (and also somehow similar to the dream-wake disordering mentioned in the note above), whereby the lack of an ability to follow through with the critical action puts to rest even the generation of the critical precursors in thought: one does not gather arrows when the bow is broke. People listen very passively, and allow the speaker to wiggle deeply in to their enduring thinking processes. Later on they will be propagating the ideas, saying to a friend “I forgot where I heard, but…”. The scientist in me (that has wiggled in to me) has the hypothesis that a brain scan would show different or less brain activity in a person who has on earbuds listening to a podcast versus a person who has on earbuds and is listening to a phone call where a potential vocal reply is lurking in their call’s future.

Radio and podcast listeners are generally very open to new ideas and thoughts anyways, which is why they are seeking the thoughts and ideas of others to begin with, but I think ultimately they allow themselves to be many more degrees open than they would be comfortable with, without any say in the matter. Education can stray in to miseducation easily enough.
